Perfectly Sliced - August 2021

There’s no such thing as a slow SlicedBrand summer, and we wouldn’t have it any other way

We seem to have sidestepped the famously slow summer -- it’s all rapid-fire coverage and red-hot developments here at SlicedBrand.

First of all, I’m excited to share that SlicedBrand has launched a new initiative on Twitter Spaces called Life's a Pitch! An international jury featuring top-tier tech and business journalists as well as myself will be giving a few lucky startups a platform to share their story, and providing them with on-point pitching advice. Startups will have the incredible chance to get on the virtual stage and pitch us. Not only will this give companies the incredible opportunity to pick our brains, but also the chance to get on the public’s radar,

If you think your company has what it takes, apply to Life’s a Pitch here!

July has been plenty busy, but I still found time to share advice with major publications between outreaches for our clients. Here are a few thought leadership articles I wrote in the past months for your poolside reading:

They say the only thing constant in life is change. This is true for businesses as well. The changes that have occurred since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic have been profound, resulting in a major reassessment of business models. When we reached the new year, it quickly became clear that the pandemic wouldn’t be fading away along with 2020. I shared my insights with Nasdaq on how companies can adapt to our new norm of doing business.

Then came Tesla's surprising decision to scrap its entire PR department. Check out my article on TechCrunch where I share how this is a PR nightmare just waiting to happen. Relationships with the media are critical for a company’s success, and this unorthodox move leaves Tesla extremely vulnerable.

The 2020 U.S. election shook up the world in a number of ways never seen before, so I connected with PRWeek and Everything-PR to share my advice on planning a post-election PR strategy. There is a generous window of time between early December and the holiday break; use it to push any urgent releases that can't wait until the new year! Read my advice on how everyone should learn to make the best use of this time and plan around the chaos of the U.S. political theater. This applies to upcoming midterm, state, and local elections, too!

As expected, our clients have been keeping busy too. While still continuing to take their businesses to new heights, they also spent time offering their thoughts to top-tier industry publications.

IOTA’s Head of Global Trade and Supply Chains, Jens Munch Lund-Nielsen, explained how COVID-19 exposed the fragility of our supply chains on TechCrunch. The pandemic brought with it much more than just shortages of toilet paper. It stressed our supply chains in ways that had never been seen before.

Lance Ford, WatchOut Co-Founder, shared the paradoxical creation and cultivation of ideas on Nasdaq. As we move further into the 21st century — a world where we were promised innovations that would be considered futuristic — it is more important than ever to properly consider and cultivate good ideas. But first, we have to find them.

Xayn Co-Founder & CEO, Leif-Nissen Lundbæk was featured on KnowTechie where he posed the question: can privacy and personalization co-exist? Privacy and personalization can only coexist when we start demanding both. We have to force corporations to adapt to ethical solutions or have them risk their consumers seeking better options elsewhere.

Via Surgical’s Co-Founder and CEO, Lena Levin discussed how ‘conscience laws' endanger patients and contradict health tech's core values on TechCrunch. Recent laws allowing healthcare providers to refuse care because of conscientious beliefs and denying care to transgender individuals directly contradict important shared values.

Amir Glatt, Duda’s Co-Founder and CTO, then discussed on TechCrunch how web professionals can stay ahead of the curve on Google's Core Web Vitals. These metrics will result in major changes to the way websites are ranked by Google. Understanding how to prepare for the transition is key for web professionals to continue creating high ranking websites.

The pandemic has forced consumers to look for newer ways to get their products and services, companies to pivot to the new demand/supply models, and industries to adapt to the new normal. Maintaining quality throughout these changes is no easy task. Qualitest President and CEO (designate) Anbu Muppidathi discussed this and more on Customer Think
